The pontifications of Ironicus and Sarcasticus above not withstanding - I can see an argument for DSoftheMoon being taken as a thematic whole (The Wall too? - I've honestly never listened to the whole thing) but can you really say that Piper would have been hugely different if Lucifer Sam and Matilda Mother had been switched round or if Seesaw was the first track on SofS? (Jugband absolutely has to be the last track - no question of that!)

I'm going to have to listen to that now you've whetted my appetite. I've loved Lucifer Sam since I first heard it (when God's dad was young, it seems to me now). And Bike.

SOYCD and Animals should be played as released. As for Dark Side - it's just a collection of pop songs to me, and only 'Comfortably Numb' appeals to me from The Wall. I'd love to have heard Jerry play that Stella Blue style.

Oh no doubt I am with you all the way with the ONLY two albums that matter in my book vis-a-vis the band...I am just saying if they, the band, made an agreement, it shouldn't be obviated because albums have become digitized representations of said product...no more than if you had your little book thingy's on parchment paper and told the publisher in 750 AD that it was "one thing, not to be broken up" and then 1450 yrs later someone said "we digitized it, so all bets are off" I'd be right there with you screaming "foul!"

Ah, old friend, I could only dream of having such control at this or at any other time. Most of what I do is considered as 'work for hire' - I pretty much relinquish all rights as soon as I hit 'send'. I've had no really bad experiences myself of my work being hacked around subsequently (not yet anyway) but I've heard a few horror stories from others, believe me ...
